Tenguyama Shrine








Sarutahiko Okami, the god of path-opening in Japanese mythology, which is said to be the origin of Tengu, is enshrined here. He has received a spirit from Sarutahiko Shrine in Ise Grand Shrine and is revered as the god of "traffic safety, business prosperity, and academic success." At night, the torii gates and approach are lit up, creating a beautiful and divine atmosphere.

Tengu have special powers, and it is said that if you touch their long noses, you will be protected from evil spirits or your wishes will come true. It is said that ``Hana Nade Tengu-san'' will have various wishes come true, such as traffic safety, family safety, business prosperity, and academic success.

Tengu's Takageta




Tenguyama has been known as a place of Shugendo since ancient times. The motif is the single-toothed Takageta clogs that are said to have been worn by Shugendo monks. It is said that they looked like tengu after overcoming severe training. Takageta, which exert power when paired on the left and right, is said to be a symbol of ``matchmaking.'' Please try wearing the Tengu Takageta and make a wish to ward off misfortune and be blessed with a wonderful relationship.

Named after the tengu, this is a unique museum that collects items related to tengu from all over the country. There are over 600 exhibits of all sizes inside the museum, allowing you to fully enjoy the world of Tengu. A statue of Sarutahiko Okami, the guardian deity of Tenguyama Shrine, is also enshrined here. In addition, ``Tenguyama Theater'' and the original projection mapping ``TENGUU STORY'' in collaboration with Otaru Vine will also be screened. It's a place where you can see, learn, and experience.

Otaru has long been known as a skiing town, and many skiers have been born from Mt. Tengu. This museum exhibits approximately 400 valuable materials related to the Olympics, National Athletic Meet, etc. You can learn about the history and development of Otaru and skiing.
Tenguyama Gallery




About 40 items, including past posters and pamphlets, are on display, with a focus on photographs of the changing seasons of Mt. Tengu. An official PR video introducing Mt. Tengu is also being shown.
Along with the view and walk, you can see the charm of Mt. Tengu from various perspectives. There is also a rest space in the gallery, so please feel free to use it for a short break.
