Tenguyama Ropeway

The 30-passenger ropeway runs from the foot of the mountain to the summit, with a total length of 735m and a height difference of 271m, and takes approximately 5 minutes. The bus will run every 12 minutes (or every 6 minutes during busy times). Enjoy a walk in the air while looking at the nostalgic cityscape of Otaru.

Enjoy the city of Otaru from five observation decks

From the summit observation deck, you can see the Shakotan Peninsula, the Shokanbetsu mountain range on the opposite shore, and a panoramic view of the Sea of ​​Japan. Enjoy the scenery from various positions from the five observation decks on Mt. Tengu. We also recommend the wooden deck "TENGUU Terrace" where you can relax overlooking the city of Otaru.

An observation deck on the roof of the mountaintop station building. Located at the highest point among the five observation decks, you can see not only Otaru city below, but also the Shakotan Peninsula, the Shokanbetsu mountain range on the opposite shore, and a panoramic view of the Sea of ​​Japan. There is a photography stand where you can take photos with the view, and a telescope, and the zipline starts from the side of here.
*Telescopes are not installed during winter.

Tenguzakura Observation Deck

``Tenguzakura Observation Deck'' is a scenic spot that offers the closest view of Otaru's cityscape. The symbol of the observatory is Tengu-zakura, a lone cherry tree that is over 100 years old. It is said to be the latest blooming cherry tree in Hokkaido, and is loved as the cherry blossom that heralds the end of spring in Otaru. In addition, next to the Tengu cherry tree, there is a cute heart-shaped illumination in the summer, and in the winter, the heart-shaped object is a popular photo spot. This place is also known as the filming location for the Netflix series "First Love", so please spend an unforgettable time immersing yourself in the world of the drama.

TENGUU Terrace(Tengu Terrace)

There are 6 wooden decks that can be used by 2 to 3 people at the Tenguzakura Observation Deck with a particularly good view. We also recommend enjoying the take-out menu from TENGUU CAFE while looking at the view of Otaru Port and Otaru city from Mt. Tengu.

Observation deck 1

This is an observation deck where you can see the operating ropeway up close with the Otaru cityscape in the background. In addition, in front of the observation deck, you can also see the ski slope that boasts the highest slope (40 degrees) on Mt. Tengu. Experience the slopes as if you were a skier. Additionally, there is the ``Otaru Photo Frame,'' which is installed only at five excellent view points in Otaru City. *Closed in winter

2nd observation deck

This observation deck offers a well-balanced view of the entire city of Otaru, and has been designated as an important viewing point in Otaru City. You can enjoy the view along with nature such as the forest that spreads out in the foreground. We have set up an arbor where you can take a break. *Closed in winter

3rd observation deckManten stage

An observation deck full of nature located at the end of the walking path at the top of the mountain. You can see a variety of scenery depending on the season, such as green mountains from spring to summer and autumn leaves in autumn. In front of you is Tengu Rock, which looks like a tengu's face. Shin-Otaru Station (tentative name) for the Shinkansen will be constructed below this. *Closed in winter

When you stand on the mountaintop, you'll find yourself in a special seat above the clouds.

At Otaru Tenguyama, on days when the weather and weather conditions are right, you can see a fantastic sea of ​​clouds gently enveloping the city. The sight of the port town looking down from the mountaintop as if it were floating above the clouds is a special moment that only those who visit can experience.

First observation deck

Second observation deck

At this observation deck, which has been designated as an important viewing point in Otaru City, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful city that harmonizes with the forest that stretches out in the foreground while relaxing in the gazebo.

Third observation deck Manten stage

If you follow the walking path at the top of the mountain, you will come to the third observation deck. You can enjoy the seasonal scenery and Tengu Rock, and the Shin-Otaru Shinkansen station (tentative name) is scheduled to be built below.

TENGUU hot air balloon

Forest bathing course

Otaru Ski Museum

This is a unique museum that collects items related to tengu from all over the country. There are over 600 exhibits of all sizes in the museum.

Tengu's Takageta

The motif is the single-toothed Takageta clogs that are said to have been worn by Shugendo monks. Takageta, which exert power when paired on the left and right, is said to be a symbol of ``matchmaking.'' Wearing ``Tengu Takageta'', please make a wish to ward off misfortune and be blessed with a wonderful relationship.

Tenguyama Shrine

Sarutahiko Okami, the god of path-opening in Japanese mythology, which is said to be the origin of Tengu, is enshrined here. It is revered as the god of "traffic safety, business prosperity, and academic success."

Nose Tengu

It is said that ``Hana Nade Tengu-san'' will have various wishes come true, such as traffic safety, family safety, business prosperity, and academic success.

Enmeison

Enmei-son is said to have the benefit of protecting children and extending their lives.
